Mark works with families and children of all backgrounds. He feels it is important to treat every individual with respect and to make sure that their voice is heard.
Mark has over 30 years of experience practicing in the areas of family law, juvenile law, estate planning and probate administration.
Mark graduated from Purdue University in 1982 and Valparaiso University School of Law in 1985. He is a part-time public defender with a private practice focused on family law. As part of Mark’s private practice, he is a Guardian ad Litem for children in family law cases and meets kids from all backgrounds who have unique stories to share.
Chairperson of the Family Law Committee of the St. Joseph County Bar Association.
Certified Family Law Mediator. In June of 2005, Mark completed a forty-hour training program in family law mediation, and has therefore become a certified family law mediator.
Certified Juvenile Training Immersion Program (JTIP) Trainer. Mark has completed the Juvenile Training Immersion Program summer academy in June 2014. Mark became a certified JTIP trainer May 15, 2015. The National Juvenile Defender Center (NJDC) and Georgetown Law School created JTIP Summer Academy specifically for juvenile defenders with a curriculum to enhance the capacity of juvenile defenders to provide high-quality representation to their clients at every stage of the delinquency process and to heighten their effectiveness by tailoring their defense strategies to the unique aspects of delinquency representation.

Mark is known for his level head and good temperament. Clients and coworkers describe him as both calm and thorough. Mark strives to treat everyone with dignity and respect, in both his professional and personal life.
Mark has a loving wife of 32 years and he is the father of three kids and a new puppy named, Franklin. In their free time, Mark and his wife, Lisa, like to go kayaking and hiking. When they have time to make it to their favorite beach location, they partake in stand up paddle boarding.
